Job Description
Police Custody Officers (PCOs) are responsible for overseeing the management of persons in the custody of Victoria Police. This role offers a stimulating, challenging and rewarding career as a valued member of the local police team.
The PCO role requires strong communication skills - both written and verbal, a healthy level of fitness, honesty and integrity, good character and reputation, leadership skills, resilience and community mindedness.
As a PCO, you will supervise persons in custody of the court, perform all duties relating to the management of persons in custody, ensure the health, wellbeing, safety and supervision of persons in custody, staff and visitors.
Key responsibilities include:
* Performing all duties relating to the management of persons in custody
* Ensuring the health, wellbeing, safety and supervision of persons in custody, staff and visitors
* Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding the management, transport, offsite attendance and/or video links for persons in custody
* Carrying out all prisoner management functions in accordance with established legislation, policies and procedures
