Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Development Assessment team. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding complex planning assessments, aligning operations with strategic goals, and driving continuous improvement across systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead from the front by overseeing complex planning assessments and ensuring consistent, high-quality decision-making.
* Champion innovation in processes and systems to enhance our service delivery.
* Develop talent by coaching and building capability within the Development Assessment team.
* Navigate complexity – from regulatory frameworks to community expectations – with professionalism and clarity.
* Collaborate strategically across the organisation to ensure policy alignment and proactive planning responses.
Requirements and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
* Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field, and/or extensive experience in a similar regulatory or statutory planning role.
* Proven leadership in a local government or statutory planning environment, including team management and handling complex development matters.
* Demonstrated skills in planning enforcement and legal proceedings, including preparation of documentation and engagement with legal professionals.
* A strong understanding of planning legislation and the ability to confidently operate in political, legal, and community-facing contexts.
* Proficiency in council systems and planning-related software.
