Job Description:
The Senior Commercial Officer plays a pivotal role in the management of regional public transport and school bus service contracts to ensure effective service delivery and value for money outcomes.
As a key member of the Public Transport division, this position provides expert advice on contract compliance, performance, and commercial outcomes. It involves working across a complex service delivery environment, engaging with diverse stakeholders including the Department of Education, local councils, third-party providers, and various internal divisions.
This role requires strong stakeholder management skills to understand and respond to varied stakeholder needs. The ability to critically evaluate problems and develop sustainable solutions is also essential. Additionally, it demands a strong customer focus and an understanding of service delivery risks.
The ideal candidate will possess commercial and financial acumen, with a clear ability to influence expenditure decisions, assess value, and manage contract risks. Influencing and persuading skills are also vital to navigate complex environments and deliver effective outcomes.
This position supports the coordination and design of the free school bus network in line with Department of Education guidelines and contributes to the development and review of related transport policies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* A relevant tertiary qualification; or extensive experience in a relevant field.
* Experience in complex operational environments and/or project environments.
* Practical knowledge of the Victorian bus industry and a thorough understanding of the extent of supplier capabilities to deliver on their performance requirements.
