About the Role
As Night Shift Supervisor at Backbone Steel, you'll take full ownership of our night manufacturing shift. Understanding safety is paramount, leading the team, driving production performance and making sure the shift runs efficiently and as per Lean Manufacturing principles. You'll brief and direct a team of production operators, maintenance and logistics staff, manage KPIs and DIFOT performance, conduct quality checks, oversee machine maintenance and deliver a thorough handover at the end of every shift. This is a senior role with real responsibility, and it's an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our shift culture and operational performance as the business continues to grow.
About You
You're an experienced manufacturing supervisor who knows how to get the best out of a team and run a shift with confidence. You lead from the front, maintain high standards under pressure and genuinely invest in the development of the people around you. You have a solid grasp of Lean manufacturing principles, a strong commitment to safety and quality, able to effectively communicate to all levels of the business from senior management to your team and have a clear understanding of performance expectations. Deal with issues early, able to prioritise, deal with problems logically, by following approved processes and collaboratively with other stakeholders when needed.

Who we are
Backbone Steel is Summit Homes Group's purpose-built manufacturing facility in Myaree. Currently operatinig across morning and afternoon shifts we are intending to operate 24 hours a day, five days a week. The facility precision rollsforms and assembles steel wall frames and roof trusses for every home built across the Summit Homes Group family of brands.
As Summit's in-house manufacturing operation, Backbone Steel gives the group full control over materials and labour, enabling faster build times, improved efficiency and consistent quality. Every frame is manufactured using premium Australian BlueScope TRUECORE Steel, chosen for its strength, durability and sustainability.

Where you'll be working
This role will be based at our McCoy Street manufacturing facility in Myaree. Located together with the Summit Homes Group supplier businesses and near the Summit Homes Group headquarters. The location is easily accessible by car and free parking is provided.
