About the Role
Douglas Shire Council is seeking a Program Accountant to provide technical accounting support to ensure Disaster Recovery projects are delivered within budget and in compliance with funding guidelines, accounting standards, and relevant Local Government legislation. The role also requires modelling positive safety behaviours and supporting Workplace Health and Safety by ensuring adherence to relevant policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.

About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
* Bachelor of Commerce/ Business or other related discipline and considerable knowledge and experience in accounting.
* Member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) or CPA Australia (or working towards).
* Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
* Current Queensland driver's licence.
* Minimum 5 years of high-level accounting experience in a Local Government environment or small to medium multi-function organisation.
* Working knowledge of accounting standards, regulations and guidelines.
* Experience in dealing with auditors and funding bodies.
* Demonstrated knowledge of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
* Well-developed reporting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to prepare and manage large data sets and spreadsheets.
* Strong customer service focus with an ability to interact and build relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience in working effectively within a team environment.
* Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
