This newly created role reports to the CFO, with exposure to the CEO, supporting Crossmuller’s growth and acquisition agenda. You will lead project and company‑level financial performance across a portfolio of 7–8 businesses with 500+ employees, while managing a small finance team.
As the financial lead for the project portfolio, you will own cost, margin, cash flow, and WIP, delivering trusted performance reporting, forecasting, and commercial insight to senior leadership, and strengthening financial governance across the business.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead project financial performance, forecasting, and margin integrity through strong cost‑to‑complete and WIP governance.
* Partner with operations to embed financial accountability, overseeing cost reviews and job costing disciplines.
* Leverage BI tools to deliver clear, actionable project and financial dashboards for senior stakeholders.
* Lead commercial and bid pricing, overseeing deviations, variations, claims, and cost control.
* Own revenue recognition, overseeing POC, WIP, accruals, and supporting financial documentation.
Requirements for success:
* Proven experience in complex, project‑based or contract‑driven environments, ideally within engineering, construction, or services sectors.
* Strong technical expertise in revenue recognition, Percentage of Completion (POC), and contract accounting.
* Commercially astute and adaptable, with the confidence to partner effectively with senior stakeholders and operational leaders.
* Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing finance teams.
* Experience using BI tools to deliver insightful dashboards and performance reporting (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).
* Qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
