Licences and Certifications

* Ocher Card and current Police Check, or ability to obtain before commencement
* NT WorkSafe High Risk Work License LF-Forklift License
* NT WorkSafe General Construction Induction Card – White Card

Required Qualifications

* TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or successor
* TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
* TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
* A diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education or vocational education and training
* A secondary teaching qualification and one of the following credentials:
o TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set
o TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or successor
o TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set or successor
* CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
* CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry
* AND one or more of the following:
o MEM31925 Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or equivalent
o RII30820 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations or equivalent
o AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
* Original certified copies of qualifications must be supplied

Purpose of the Position

The Manufacturing and Engineering Lecturer delivers quality Vocational Education and Training (VET) within the context of Batchelor Institute's role as Australia's leading First Nations Tertiary Education and Research provider. The Lecturer develops and delivers innovative VET programs in Civil Construction, Mining, Manufacturing and Engineering, and Automotive under the Institute's Both-ways principles of practice.

Duties

* Package, deliver, and assess training products from the MEM – Manufacturing and Engineering training package to meet the needs of clients and learners whilst maintaining industry standards.
* Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Demonstrate awareness of VET educational theories and apply them to learning needs; contribute to development of resources and programs based on the Learning and Teaching Framework.
* Use strategies to ensure learner engagement and achievement of learning outcomes; create supportive learner inter‐relationships; use a range of technologies effectively.
* Understand assessment principles and rules of evidence; develop or modify assessment tools to suit learner needs and contexts.
* Employ methods to ensure assessment principles and rules of evidence are met in assessment processes and decisions; participate in validation processes.
* Liaise with enterprises and community to ensure teaching and assessment reflect current industry practices and community values; participate in enterprise and community networks.
* Maintain vocational competency relevant to own subject area; stay updated with industry changes; participate in industry and community events and networks.
* Contextualise program content and adapt teaching practices to suit specified enterprise needs and community values.
* Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by line manager.

Selection Criteria

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in culturally diverse teams within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, communities, and organisations.
* Possess a relevant vocational qualification (MEM31925, RII30820 or equivalent) combined with a minimum of 3 years industry, professional or vocational experience.
* Hold CPCWHS1001 and CPCCWHS2001 certifications and a valid General construction induction/White card.
* Hold minimum vocational teaching qualification (Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 or higher adult education qualification).
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in VET, including managing student progression to enable VET programs in relevant teaching areas.
* Highly effective interpersonal skills; proficient written and oral communication adaptable to diverse educational levels.
* Understanding of VET management and administration policies, procedures and business rules; knowledge of 2025 Standards for RTO's and relevant legislation.
* Demonstrated initiative and ability to manage workload priorities.
* Must be able to travel throughout the Northern Territory by land, sea and air (including light aircraft) and possess an NT 'C' class driver's licence with experience on unformed roads; prepared to stay in varied accommodation and environmental settings.
* Hold current First Aid certification.
* Understanding of Work Health and Safety (National Uniform Legislation) Act and Regulations 2011, Approved Codes of Practice, and ability to comply with Institute WHS Policies and Procedures.
