The Opportunity
Join a boutique Melbourne-based IP/Patents practice as an experienced Paralegal on a temporary basis.
* This role is fully remote.
* Casual contract, working 3-4 days per week.
* You will assist one Partner and one Special Counsel across a broad spectrum of IP matters, from technology and life sciences to everything in between.
* Gain exposure to a vast and diverse client base.
* Potential for this role to become permanent.
The Role
You will be responsible for Patent applications, portfolio management, and patent litigation support. Given the fully remote nature of the role, you must possess several years of hands-on experience with the full patent lifecycle and the ability to work autonomously.
Essential Experience
* Proven expertise with IP Australia, IPONZ, and databases such as Inprotech.
Key Duties Include
* Managing local and international patent applications and renewals.
* Liaising directly with clients regarding their portfolios.
* Managing matters and importing data from IP databases.
* Preparing detailed client reports.
* General administrative tasks as required.
About You
* You have a solid background as a Paralegal within the Patents and IP practice of a law firm.
* You have experience supporting busy Partners and legal teams.
* You are equally effective working collaboratively and independently.
* You know the patent process inside and out—someone who could confidently lodge an application in their sleep.
