Azure Data Factory Engineers
(APS6 equivalent) to support a major regulatory reform program with a prominent federal agency. The successful candidates will work within the
Technology Delivery Branch
of a large-scale, multi-branch program focused on transparency and accountability in Australia's electoral system.
These roles are focused on
building and maintaining scalable, high-performance data pipelines
using Microsoft Azure Data Factory, SQL, and related Azure technologies. You will play a key role in modernising the agency's data integration infrastructure and ensuring robust, secure, and compliant data handling practices across multiple systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and implement end-to-end data integration solutions using Azure Data Factory and SQL.
* Develop and maintain ETL pipelines between legacy systems and modern cloud-based infrastructure.
* Optimise data models for performance, consistency, and scalability.
* Implement validation rules and quality checks across data pipelines.
* Troubleshoot integration issues and proactively address root causes.
* Maintain detailed technical documentation, flow diagrams, and solution design artefacts.
* Engage directly with business analysts, developers, and infrastructure teams to translate requirements into actionable integration designs.
* Stay abreast of evolving Azure technologies and data engineering best practices.
Essential Criteria
* Proven experience with
Microsoft Azure Data Factory
in production environments.
* Strong understanding of
ETL development
,
data integration
, and
data modelling
.
* Proficiency in
SQL
and experience with
data warehousing
practices.
* Familiarity with
data governance
, security, and compliance standards.
* Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid APS team.
* Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
* Ability to work autonomously and contribute proactively in fast-paced delivery settings.
* Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships within cross-functional teams.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience with additional
Azure tools
(e.g., Azure SQL Database).
* Formal qualifications
in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline.
* Industry certifications
, such as Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate or AWS Certified Data Analytics.
* Previous experience working with or for the
Australian Electoral Commission
is highly advantageous.
Working Arrangements
Hybrid model based in
Canberra, ACT
, with onsite presence required at client premises. Remote work flexibility may be considered depending on operational needs and onboarding progress.
