About the role
Develop and maintain Bluestone's credit policy and build dynamic collections strategies to optimise the credit performance of the loan portfolio. Lead the development of portfolio credit analytics to monitor portfolio performance making policy recommendations to senior management.
Lead the design, execution, and performance tracking of Champion/Challenger collections initiatives, managing updates to credit policy, and the production of high-quality credit analytics and board/funder reporting..
Responsibilities
Credit Policy Management
* Own the end-to-end credit policy framework, ensuring alignment with risk appetite, funder agreements, regulatory obligations (e.g. NCCP), and evolving portfolio dynamics.
* Lead credit policy reviews and updates based on credit performance, macroeconomic indicators, and operational feedback.
* Liaise with internal stakeholders (Lending, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Sales) to ensure credit policy is clearly understood, consistently applied, and documented.
Collections Strategy
* Develop and implement targeted collections strategies to optimise performance across early and late-stage arrears.
* Design and run Champion/Challenger tests to trial different treatments, contact strategies, and segmentation approaches.
* Collaborate with Collections to operationalise strategy changes and monitor treatment outcomes.
* Analyse collections KPIs and iterate on strategies to improve cure rates, reduce roll rates, and minimise loss.
Credit Analytics & Portfolio Insights
* Lead credit performance analytics, delivering actionable insights on delinquency trends, arrears drivers, and risk concentrations.
* Manage and mentor the Credit Analyst to support accurate reporting, ad hoc analysis, and ongoing model and trend tracking.
Board, Funder, and Rating Agency Reporting
* Prepare high-quality, detailed credit performance reports for presentation to internal governance forums, including the Risk and Credit Committees and the Board.
* Support the CRO in meetings with warehouse funders, rating agencies, and other external stakeholders by providing analytical input and credit policy commentary.
* Ensure reporting meets the expectations of external parties and supports covenant compliance and transparency.
Your Experience
* Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
* 5+ years' experience in credit risk, credit policy, or collections strategy, ideally within mortgage or secured lending.
* Experience working in a non-bank, fintech, or warehouse-funded lender environment.
* Strong experience managing credit policy frameworks and interpreting portfolio performance data.
* Exposure to securitisation, rating agency criteria, or warehouse facility covenants.
* Proven ability to design and execute Champion/Challenger strategies in a credit or collections setting.
* Strong understanding of Australian credit regulations and risk governance expectations.
* Confident communicator, with experience preparing and presenting reporting to boards, funders, or regulators.
* Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a lean, fast-paced environment.
