The Role
As a Senior Energy Trader, you will be responsible for buying and selling energy commodities within the Australian market. Your primary goal is to optimize trading strategies and manage risks to generate profitable returns. You will monitor market trends, analyze data, and execute trades to capitalize on market opportunities. This role requires a deep understanding of energy markets, strong analytical skills, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced trading environment.
Responsibilities
* Trading Execution: Execute energy trades within risk limits and strategies. Monitor market conditions, identify opportunities, and execute trades to maximize returns.
* Market Analysis: Conduct analysis of supply and demand fundamentals, price trends, regulatory developments, and geopolitical factors.
* Identify market risks and develop mitigation strategies.
* Risk Management: Monitor and manage trading positions to ensure compliance with risk and regulatory requirements.
* Financial Modelling: Develop models to assess profitability and risk, analyze performance, and report to management.
* Relationship Management: Build relationships with market participants and collaborate with internal teams.
* Compliance: Stay updated on regulations and ensure adherence. Maintain accurate records and documentation.
* Technology and Tools: Use trading platforms and analytical tools, stay updated on technological advancements, and suggest system improvements.
You
* Proven experience as an energy trader, preferably in the Australian market.
* Tertiary qualifications: Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, or related fields. A master's or professional certification is a plus.
* AFMA Accreditation (or working towards) is required.
