Accounts Payable Officer – 6-Month Fixed Term Contract (St Leonards / Sydney)

Hamilton Island is seeking an Accounts Payable Officer for a 6-month fixed term contract, based in our modern St Leonards office.
This role plays a key part in ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of accounts payable transactions while maintaining strong working relationships with internal departments and external suppliers.

Where you'll make an impact
As part of the Accounts Payable team, you will ensure timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices and payments, maintaining compliance with internal policies and deadlines.
You'll be central to resolving discrepancies, managing high-volume transactions and supporting the integrity of financial processes across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Process ******* invoices per month, matching to purchase orders and investigating discrepancies
Ensure all payments are accurately coded, authorised and supported with correct documentation
Process EFT, BPAY and foreign currency payments according to due dates
Manage the Accounts Payable inbox and incoming mail on a rostered basis
Assist with month-end processes, ensuring timely closure and rollover of Accounts Payable
Action new supplier setups, reviewing supplier terms prior to creation
Reconcile supplier statements monthly and resolve outstanding issues.
Maintain an organised filing system for Accounts Payable documentation.
Respond to internal and external queries professionally and promptly.
Follow internal policies, procedures and best practices for AP functions.
Support general administrative tasks as required.
What we're looking for
You're a meticulous, organised and proactive Accounts Payable professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
You bring strong communication skills, a high level of accuracy and the ability to manage competing priorities with ease.
To be successful, you'll need
Minimum 2 years' high-volume Accounts Payable experience
Basic accounting knowledge (highly regarded)
Hospitality industry experience (desirable)
Experience with TechnologyOne Financials (Finance One) advantageous
You'll also bring:
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Fast, accurate data entry skills with exceptional attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
Strong organisational ability in a deadline-driven environment
