Position Summary:
Provides expertise in emerging methodologies on applications, experiment design, and sample prep, driving adoption of Illumina emerging methodologies solutions. Knows the strategy and workflow of existing customers to co-create growth opportunities. Demonstrates deep expertise and potential value Illumina may create for new customers.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Be the subject matter expert for emerging research applications (e.g., proteomics, long-read, spatial) and voice of customer to regional management, global product management, marketing, and market development.
2. Demonstrates a broad knowledge of the market environment including current and possible future market trends, practices and information affecting the business; industry trends; competition and competitive environment; marketplace strategies and tactics.
3. Advise customers on technical aspects such as end-to-end workflows, study design, possible solutions, product positioning and competitor comparisons. Employs creative solutions to overcome barriers.
4. Work with district sales teams to impart deep domain knowledge, including discussion of relevant publications and supporting literature with key customers.
5. Have a deep knowledge of Illumina’s products and the value to customers.
6. Providing engaging presentations to drive market interest in lllumina technologies.
7. Be recognized by the community as a market expert and a valuable addition to discussions and conference programs.
8. Attend relevant trade shows and conferences.
9. In collaboration with district sales and marketing teams, develop and execute strategic plans for winning new business, expanding market share, and building upon existing programs manifested by a qualified pipeline of opportunities.
10. Make recommendations to sales management on ways to approach the district market with new assays and technologies or ways for customers to develop solutions within target customer base.
11. Spend a significant amount of time in the field, visiting customers to maintain positive relationships, implement selling strategies, tactics and driving key sales opportunities related to Illumina’s products.
12. Identify and interact with key opinion leaders and key customers in the clinical segments to develop new sales opportunities and facilitate the introduction of Illumina products into new customer groups.
13. Providing strategic and competitive feedback to field marketing
14. Research and identify new market opportunities in emerging methodologies in association with sales partners and marketing teams.
15. Work closely with market development to assess regional markets to determine viability of new clinical applications in region.
16. Assist, as time permits, with other business development activities.

Position Requirements:
17. Recognized deep expertise in Proteomics/long-read/spatial/metatranscriptomics and can Independently work on highly complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables.
18. Excellent time management skills and is able to prioritize workload accordingly and demonstrated communication (verbal and written) presentation and training skills.
19. Familiarity with the competitive landscape and trends in the clinical landscape
20. Demonstrated proactiveness in initiating and accomplishing tasks.
21. Proven ability to lead and influence a broad spectrum of constituents (internal stake holders, external shareholders, and key opinion leaders in the field) with divergent interests in order to create a defined and focused course of action.
22. Network of established customer relationships and Strong negotiation skills and the ability to persuade.
23. Ability to travel within district and regionally to carry out primary responsibilities, must be willing to travel up to 50%
24. Demonstrated superior problem solving and interpersonal skills in a customer facing environment.
25. Reporting basic financial data

Preferred Experience/Education/Skills:
26. Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
