About NBMLHD
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, providing a range of public health services to the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Region. The Lithgow Campus, located in South Bowenfels, supports approximately 20,000 people in the town and surrounding areas. Services include Domiciliary care unit, Emergency department, Geriatric assessment unit, Obstetric services, Paediatric service, and Drug and Alcohol unit.
Join Lithgow Hospital on a permanent part-time opportunity as a Clinical Midwifery Educator, a cornerstone leadership role within our maternity team. This position shapes the capabilities and confidence of the midwifery workforce through education, training, and ongoing support. Direct clinical care is reserved for emergency circumstances only, serving as a model for best-practice care.
Responsibilities
Identify learning needs, develop targeted educational programs, and deliver clinical education at the ward level. Mentor and train staff and contribute to a learning environment that promotes best-practice care.
This role focuses on education and leadership within the maternity team, with clinical duties limited to emergencies as required.
What You Will Bring to the Role
- Current registration to practice as a Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Relevant clinical/education post-registration qualifications
- Recent extensive clinical experience in a healthcare setting
- Ability to identify learning needs and to plan, develop, deliver and evaluate education
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with a consultative approach
- Experience in clinical teaching, mentoring and/or preceptorship
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Commitment to working with NUM/MUM to establish and maintain a learning environment that values reflective practice
