Health Information Manager
This role is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective management of health information resources and services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality customer service, and maintaining accurate health records in accordance with accreditation standards and relevant legislation.
* Lead strategic and operational planning activities related to health information services (HIS) and the ongoing review of HIS systems and processes within the organization.
* Manage and supervise HIS and administration caregivers, including recruitment and identification of training and development needs.
* Collaborate with the Shared Health Information Centre to share best practices, provide input into the development of standardized systems and processes, and assist in organizational-wide projects as required.
* Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive health information and oversee the handling of requests for release of information for clinical, administrative, financial, insurance, and legal purposes.
* Work collaboratively with the Shared Health Information Centre to ensure that all health records are accurately scanned and coded, in accordance with service level agreements.
* Coordinate non-coding specific health fund audits and respond to health fund queries as needed.
* Act as a leader for patient admission systems, scanned health records, and My Health Record operations, maintenance, and training, ensuring that each system meets business requirements.
* Stay up-to-date on health fund contract changes and their nuances, interpreting what they mean for organizational processes and refund implications, and implementing necessary process updates to meet requirements.
* Provide education and support to clinical and administrative caregivers regarding health fund contracts, clinical documentation, and HIS functions, to ensure understanding and compliance.
Requirements:
* Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent qualification and/or significant working experience in a healthcare environment.
* Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, with an ability to nurture and develop teams and individuals.
* Excellent knowledge of casemix funding, demonstrated experience leading teams/managing projects, and well-developed conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze information and data.
