Position Summary
As a Painter & Blaster, you'll help prepare and coat our products to meet quality standards. This is a hands-on role involving industrial painting and abrasive blasting, with a focus on delivering good-quality finishes on valves and components. You'll work as part of a team to follow safe work practices, keep your workspace organised, and support continuous improvement across the workshop.
Responsibilities
* Prepare valves and components for industrial spray painting and surface treatment.
* Apply coatings using airless and conventional spray systems in line with work instructions and specifications.
* Inspect, measure, and test completed work for finish quality, film thickness, and coverage to ensure compliance with standards.
* Perform abrasive blasting activities, including sandblasting and shot blasting, to achieve required surface profiles.
* Operate, set up, and maintain blasting and painting equipment safely and efficiently.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping, including cleaning and safe storage of equipment, paints, and materials.
* Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures, using appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
* Identify and report hazards, near misses, equipment faults, or quality issues promptly.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the training of others in painting and blasting techniques when required.
Qualifications
For This Role, You Will Need:
* Some experience or interest in industrial spray painting or abrasive blasting (training can be provided).
* Basic understanding of spray equipment, including airless or conventional systems.
* Willingness to learn how to apply coatings correctly and achieve consistent finishes.
* Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions for quality standards and measurements.
* Commitment to safe work practices and following health and safety guidelines.
* Forklift and/or overhead crane licences are desirable, or willingness to obtain them.
* Confidence using hand and power tools, or a willingness to learn in a workshop environment.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
* Experience working in an engineering or manufacturing factory environment.
* Exposure to valve assembly processes.
* Familiarity with quality assurance systems and procedures.
