About the Role
We are seeking an organised and proactive Practice Assistant to join our Canberra Mergers & Acquisitions team. In this role, you will provide dedicated support to Partner, Annabel Griffin, and her friendly, high‐performing team.
This is a full‐time opportunity for someone who thrives on using initiative, anticipating needs and ensuring the smooth running of a busy practice. With your strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail, you'll be trusted to stay one step ahead in a fast‐paced environment.

The key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to the following:
* Preparing, formatting and amending legal documents
* Conducting conflict searches and drafting appointment letters
* Managing diaries, inbox and travel arrangements
* Building and maintaining strong client and internal relationships
* Monitoring deadlines and coordinating court filings
* Handling billing, expenses and WIP reporting
* Matter management, including opening/closing files, archiving, electronic/physical filing
* Providing general administrative support as required
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work and can balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
* At least 3 years' experience in a legal support role (Legal Assistant, Practice Assistant, legal Executive or Legal Secretary)
* Good knowledge of the billing process in a legal environment – Elite 3E experience is highly regarded
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
* Typing speed of 70+ wpm
* Advanced proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Strong problem-solving skills, with sound judgment and attention to detail
* Clear and confident communication, with the ability to adapt style to your audience
* Well-developed interpersonal skills and collaborative approach
