Registered Nurse - Recovery Surgical Admissions

Newcastle Private Hospital is seeking Registered Nursing applicants to join our Recovery, Day Surgery & Surgical Admissions team as an on a casual basis.

About us

Come and join our expert team of surgeons, specialist doctors, dedicated nurses and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private Hospital. We are a 189 bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospitalhas11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit.

We also havea cardiac suite includinga cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite including6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery isavailable for families in the Newcastle region.Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.

AsRegistered Nurse yourresponsibilities will include:

- Undertake acute nursing care in accordance with legislation
- Deliver evidence based nursing care
- Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team
- Ensure patient and staff safety
- Supervise, direct and guide nursing team members; Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and (AINs) to deliver patient care
- Proactively assess the perioperative nursing care provided to ensure the best possible outcome is achieved for the individual / patient
- Complete all required documentation in accordance with local and National Policies
- Current registration with AHPRA as aRegistered Nurse
- Minimum of 3 years' relevant post registration qualifications
- Demonstrated experience working within an acute surgical unit– Preferably in a Day Surgery, Admissions, or Recovery setting
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of quality improvement initiative using research principles to support evidence-based practice, including development of policies and guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a supportive team.
- Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement individualised patient centred care;
- Demonstrated professional manner when working with complex situations;
- Advanced communication skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a willingness tolearn new skills.
- Flexibility to a seven-day roster including night duty

If you are successful, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant nursing experience against the current nursing Enterprise Agreement the "Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF – NSW Nurses' and Midwives' – Enterprise Agreement 2020-2024" (salaries range between $35.46 and $49.79 per hour).
