**The Role**
The APS6 Strategy and Concepts Officer will work to a Deputy Director and closely with the Director of Joint Influence Activities (JIA) on strategy, concepts and doctrine for capabilities within the Directorate's remit. Subject areas includes mis/disinformation, the human elements of information environments, information operations, influence operations, military public affairs. They will provide written and verbal advice for the Director in a broad range of areas relating to Information Warfare and Defence's mission to Shape, Deter and Respond to threats to Australia's security.

The Strategy and Concepts Officer will coordinate activities and forums in liaison with counterparts in Defence, including Operational Headquarters, Single service Headquarters, other Government Departments and international partners.

In a normal week you would expect to:

- Identify and write concepts to benefit capability development for Information Warfare and Influence Activities;
- Actively contribute to Defence and Whole of Government policy formulation and provide advice on Australian Defence Force Influence capabilities;
- Collaborate across Directorates in Information Warfare Division;
- Research issues relating to Defence's interests and strategic policies and develop response options; and
- Analyse sensitive issues and recommend solutions using your expertise.

**About our Team**
Joint Influence Activities (JIA) is a Directorate within the Joint Information Warfare Branch which strives to be agile in response to a dynamic information environment. Unlike conventional war in the physical domains, the information environment is 'always on' and the battle to have the dominant narrative is intense and constant. Therefore the capabilities developed by this Directorate push the limit to remain on par with developments in information and cyber domains which change more rapidly than any other.

The JIA Directorate works across Defence's groups and services to further the Australian Defence Force's ability to conduct influence activities in the information environment. This includes developing joint policy, concepts, strategies, doctrine, education, training and building capability.

We are a medium sized team who use the skills of a blended workforce to deliver future capabilities to the war fighter.

We are looking for a Strategy and Concepts Officer who:
