The Opportunity
The Cadet Accountant role is designed for a school leaver who has recently completed their Year 12 studies and is looking to commence a Commerce/Business/Accounting degree. Build a long‑term career with a local firm that will support your development
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision and with appropriate training, you will:
Assist with the preparation of:

Financial statements for small and medium businesses, SMSFs and trusts
Support the team with bookkeeping and data entry, including:
Processing bank feeds and coding transactions
Accounts receivable and accounts payable processing
Reconciliations of bank, loan and control accounts
Maintain and update client files and workpapers accurately and on time
Assist with basic tax and compliance research tasks as directed
Communicate with the ATO and other government agencies as required (under guidance)
Provide general administrative support to the accounting team (e.g. scanning, filing, document preparation)
Contribute to a positive team culture and uphold DHM Partners' standards of professionalism and client service
Skills & Attributes
We're looking for someone who:
Has strong attention to detail and a genuine interest in accounting and business principles
Is proactive, organised and able to manage competing deadlines (especially around study and work)
Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
Is willing to learn, ask questions and take feedback on board
Works well in a team environment and is comfortable dealing with clients in a professional manner
Shows integrity, discretion and respect for confidentiality at all times

Highly Regarded (but not essential)
Previous experience in an office, retail or customer service environment

What We Offer
On-the-job training and mentoring from experienced accountants and partners
Flexible hours to support your university timetable (e.g. 2–4 days per week during semester, with potential for additional hours during breaks)
