Seeking experienced mental health clinicians to work with the Community Acute Intervention Service Outreach Team. Multiple Permanent Full Time positions available (80 hours per fortnight) with monthly ADO. Job category: RPN Grade 4, AH Grade 3. Req Id: 5555.

About Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services (MHDAS)


MHDAS provides integrated and recovery-oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support. Our service is recognized for innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client-centred, accessible and family-inclusive.

MHDAS is entering a phase of co-design to redesign our service system with the community.


About the Facility


Major sites include University Hospital Geelong, McKellar Centre, Barwon Health North, and residential aged care facilities across the region. Mental health, community health and dental services are delivered across Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac. The Community – Acute Intervention Service operates seven days a week with two shifts and is a tertiary level multidisciplinary team in mental health, drug and alcohol services.


The Team Will

* Undertake assessments rated by Triage as Category B (CAT B) or Category C (CAT C) for ages 12-65
* Provide brief intervention to consumers requiring tertiary mental health treatment for up to 28 days during an acute phase, aged 16-65
* Provide ED post-follow-up calls to consumers who have left the ED and are not referred to other tertiary mental health services


About You

* Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
* Experience in acute mental health and AOD assessment and treatment
* Demonstrated advanced clinical skills in assessment and treatment of acute mental health and substance use disorders in a community setting


About The Role


We are seeking highly motivated senior clinicians to provide acute community assessment and treatment for people in the acute phase of mental illness and/or AOD use. You will demonstrate leadership in the ongoing development of the acute intervention service and day-to-day operations of the team.
