 
        
        Accountant Assistant
This role assists with financial management reports, monitors departmental finances, and enforces a strong control environment.
 * Monitoring bank transactions, preparing weekly bank reconciliations, and advising on transaction coding.
 * Assisting in maintaining the weekly cash-flow forecast.
 * Managing and reconciling petty-cash transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with company policies and audit requirements.
 * Raising weekly manual invoices for subcontractor fuel back-charging.
 * Processing weekly purchase orders.
 * Posting weekly salary and wage journals from the payroll system and collaborating with the Payroll Team to manage related data.
 * Assisting in preparing and reconciling monthly balance-sheet accounts, including general-ledger reconciliations, and posting corrective journals as required.
 * Playing a key role in the month-end close process, including posting journals, accruals, prepayment releases, and adjustments.
 * Reconciling payroll control and tax accounts monthly to provide accurate data to stakeholders.
 * Monitoring, investigating, and maintaining the Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) account to ensure accuracy and timely updates.
 * Processing supplier and customer rebates in accordance with company policies.
 * Reviewing and processing monthly credit card transactions, ensuring proper coding and compliance.
 * Supporting the preparation of timely financial reports, including quarterly Board Reports, Monthly Business Unit Reports with variance analysis, and any ad-hoc analysis of issues as required by the Finance Team.
 * Assisting in preparing monthly BAS/Instalment Activity Statements as required.
 * Assisting in maintaining an accurate, up-to-date fixed asset register in accordance with company policies and accounting standards, and ensuring that business unit managers provide asset transfer/disposal forms on a timely basis.
 * Supporting the preparation of departmental budgets and cost reports.
 * Assisting in the preparation of interim and year-end audits.
 * Preparing work papers for FBT and ensuring supporting documentation is complete for Tax Accountants to prepare the FBT Return.
 * Contributing to ad-hoc business-improvement projects to support the Finance Team.
Required Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting accepted by a professional accounting firm. They will also have proven experience and a good understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Additional skills include the ability to create and enforce compliance with processes and procedures and adapt to changing circumstances. A positive team player with a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn is essential, along with being focused, accountable, and committed to meeting deadlines.
High level of computer literacy, particularly in advanced Excel, is required. Excellent communication skills are necessary, with the ability to confidently interact with staff at all levels and build strong business relationships.
