The Fire Safety Officer reports into Total Asset Management (TAM) within NBMLHD. Asset Management translates organisational objectives into asset-related decision, plans and activities using a risk-based approach to deliver defined service outcomes.

The Position will assist the NBMLHD Fire Safety Manager in ensuring that Fire Safety and Compliance issues for hospitals across the district are met and maintained. The position will also deliver Fire Training and Fire/ Evacuation Exercises across the NBMLHD.

Nepean Hospital is seeking a dedicated and proactive Fire Safety Officer to join our team and play a critical role in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. As a major healthcare facility serving the local community, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of fire prevention, preparedness and emergency response.

The Fire Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring that appropriate written fire safety and fire emergency response procedures are developed, maintained and readily available across the facility. You will provide expert advice and practical assistance to management to support a strong culture of fire safety awareness, ensuring that all employees participate in fire safety education programs and that accurate and up-to-date training records are maintained.

What You Will Bring To The Role

Completed a Fire Safety Officer (Health) Accreditation Course, with Fire and Rescue N.S.W. or equivalent in accordance with N.S.W. Health Department Circular No 2010/24; completed Module of Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training (TAE40110 or equivalent) ); current NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.Demonstrated experience in a similar role or experience in the Fire industry.Demonstrated experience in assessment, implementation and evaluation of fire safety requirements.Demonstrated Competent computer skills including the capacity to effectively use Microsoft Software including Outlook, Word and Excel.Demonstrated ability to manage the development and implementation of emergency services strategies, programs, procedures and Training and the monitoring of its effectiveness.Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.Knowledge of the relevant Work Health & Safety Legislation and the ability to ensure that safe work practices are adopted and/or maintained within the area of responsibility.
