About the partner:
Rhett Oliver joined Colin Biggers & Paisley's property and development team in 2003 and became partner in 2008. He currently serves as the national practice leader of the property and development group. With more than 20 years of experience, Rhett provides end-to-end real estate services to leading property development and investment businesses across Australia.
Rhett's areas of expertise include planning and infrastructure, acquisitions, disposals and leasing as well as corporate and project structuring and titling of major mixed-use, residential, commercial, integrated resort and aged-care/retirement developments.Rhett advises both private and public entities across a range of industries.
About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to work in an established property practice, this role will be directly working for our practice group leader Rhett Oliver.
* Providing clients with legal advice.
* Regularly reviewing applicable case law and legislative changes.
* Conducting effective legal research and analysis to produce timely, commercial and legally accurate advice.
* Managing a robust workload, including prioritising work and delivering services effectively.
* Developing an understanding of client operations and strategy.
* Managing prospective client relationships.
* Mentoring and developing junior staff.
* Continual professional development and managing MCLE requirements.
About you:
* 7+ years PQE.
* Have a genuine passion for a career in property and development law and confident in your ability to work with a high degree of autonomy.
* Strong experience in:
o Site acquisitions and due diligence;
o Titling;
o Built form and land development work including preparation of off the plan contract documentation;
o Managing large residential or mixed use developments;
o Leasing.
* Strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
* Strong leadership skills to assist in developing our junior cohort.
* Strong practice management and attention to detail.
* A self-starter's attitude and ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
* Ability to deliver high quality work under strict timeframes.
* An ability to understand and identify the key issues in a legal matter.
* Good analytical and research skills paired with excellent business acumen.
* Good judgment and common sense.
