FACTORY MANAGER
We have an exciting chance to join a growing cheese and dairy products manufacturing team in Mortlake, Victoria.
About the business
We are an Organic Dairy Manufacturer manufacturing cheese for L’artisan Cheese - Organic and Symons Organic Dairy as well as 3rd-party manufacture. We currently employ 15 staff who are all involved in hand making soft cheeses, washed rind cheeses, semi-hard and hard cheeses as well as butter and yoghurt. We have 3 farms supplying us Bio-dynamic milk. Our cheese is distributed nationally into premium cheese markets with a potential to expand into the export markets.
The Role
This is an exciting role for an aspiring Manager, leading a team of cheesemakers and our production staff. Primarily we seek a skilled Manager able to manage a team of 15 and ensure a harmonious work environment and an efficient workplace. Knowledge of Quality Systems for Dairy Manufacturers is important given the compliance requirements of our customers. You will be required to understand the cheesemaking and yogurt making process and learn understand our processes from our cheesemakers as well as Third Generation French cheesemaker Matthieu Megard.
Most of production will occur between Monday to Friday.
Key selection criteria
- Minimum 5-10 years dairy industry experience
- Experience managing teams of 10-20 people with demonstrated success over a number of years
- Strong understanding of quality systems (DFSV, Food Safety Plans, HACCP, export) and hands-on experience in updating these plans
- Cheesemaking and Yogurt making experience helpful but not a necessity
- Production planning
- Logistics for raw materials and finished products
- Purchasing of all inputs to the factory e.g. packaging, chemicals
- Attractive salary package to be negotiated.
