Role Overview
As the successful candidate, you will work both independently and collaboratively in a safe and qualified manner within DSTG’s research facilities. The successful candidate may undertake tasks like those listed below, noting on the job and formal training will be included to develop your core skills to further your career and meet operational requirements:
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems through fault-finding and troubleshooting
- Design, install and program PLC and data acquisition equipment
- Install and integrate electrical and control systems for large format battery testing and electric motors
- Maintain and coordinate repairs of laboratory and field equipment
- Lead and manage Work Health and Safety (WHS) practices within the team
- Support the smooth operation of essential lab infrastructure
- Support and undertake procurement activities for consumable goods
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to deliver safe, high-impact project outcomes

Ideal Candidate
DSTG is committed to developing its people. You will bring some of the following skills and experience, and you will be supported through tailored training and development to build the rest over time:
- A certificate 3/4, diploma or degree in an electrical/technical field
- 2–5 years of relevant work experience
- Experience with electrical systems, battery energy storage, electric motors, and PLC/control systems
- Experience working with DC voltage systems up to 1000V would be advantageous
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, line diagrams, and commissioning documentation
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and a safety-first mindset
Security Clearance: Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
Mandatory Qualifications: Certificate Level 4, Adv/Diploma or Degree in an Electrical Field
