This position is an identified Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander position as it is a genuine occupational requirement that this position be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander lived experience, cultural knowledge, community connection or capability is essential to this role.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to bring their lived experience and cultural knowledge to shape nursing education at UNE.
Working collaboratively with academic teams, you will contribute to curriculum delivery and development that supports culturally safe, respectful, and contemporary nursing education — embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples perspectives and ways of knowing into the learning experience for all students.
You will make a meaningful contribution to teaching practice, educational design and delivery, and the scholarship of learning and teaching at UNE.
About you
You are a Registered Nurse with substantial clinical experience and a strong commitment to culturally safe healthcare and education.
You will bring:
* At least five years' clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, including direct work with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, and a deep understanding of cultural values, health needs, and community wellbeing.
* Demonstrated teaching capability, with experience in developing and delivering nursing education that is culturally responsive and supports the success of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and communities.
* Highly developed communication, teamwork, and organisational skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with students, colleagues, and communities to foster inclusive and culturally safe environments.
Your lived experience, cultural knowledge, and professional expertise will be central to enriching the learning environment and strengthening culturally responsive nursing education at UNE.
You will demonstrate the ability to deliver and coordinate subjects using culturally informed and evidence-based teaching approaches, ensuring all nursing practice is free of racism and professionally respectful. You will also demonstrate the capacity to facilitate academic and logistical support to Indigenous stakeholders, contribute to culturally responsive innovations in service delivery, and exhibit professional workplace behaviours. These capabilities are essential to contributing to the development of a culturally responsive health, education, justice, and social services workforce for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
