**The Opportunity**:
East Rockingham 6168 will be the first Veolia operated Waste to Energy (WtE) plant in Australia. The Plant will be operated on a 24/7 basis.
As the Shift Operations Technician you will be accountable to the Shift Team Leader for the safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient operation of the facility within regulatory standards and legislative directives.
Operating a 12-hour shift pattern within a 5-shift system, you will support the shift team by continuously monitoring and controlling plant processes from the DCS and in local control as required to maximize availability and efficiency.

**What you'll be responsible for**:
- Support the site Operations Manager to deliver a safety-first culture, best-in-class operational facility in line with Veolia's behaviours and values.
- A 12-hour shift pattern across 5 shifts, the Shift Operations Technician provides day-to-day support of operations at East Rockingham, ensuring that all Health and Safety, Environmental, Site Permit, Site License, Personnel and other legislative policies and procedures are followed.
- Operate and monitor the Waste to Energy plant DCS in accordance with all authorized operating and quality procedures.
- Conduct routine plant operational procedures monitoring alarms and warnings to Identify plant defects or safety issues notifying the Shift Team Leader, as necessary.
- Operate the waste cranes in accordance with standard operating procedures maintaining good waste management practice at all times.
- Ensure that incoming waste is properly mixed to achieve an optimum and consistent feed to the furnace and that adequate space is available for incoming waste deliveries.
- Carry-out routine housekeeping and undertake any miscellaneous tasks as directed by the Shift Team Leader.
- Liaise with Day Operations team to identify and remove non-conforming waste.
- Carry out daily boiler water sampling and chemical analysis. Complete remedial actions as detailed by Shift Team Leader.
- Assist maintenance team in carrying out operational maintenance repairs/tasks to maximize plant efficiency and expedite repairs and return to service.
- Maintain a shift log and analyze operational activities.
- Monitor environmental parameters, analyze, and make corrections in accordance with procedures.
- Monitor steam quality and act on variances.
- Promote safety conscious attitude towards operational activities, SSOW and timely reporting of incidents.
**What you'll need to be successful**:
- Operational experience of Waste to Energy, Power Generation, or an Industrial Process related industry to deliver operational availability in line with contractual KPI's.
- Experience as an operator of SCADA / DCS controlled power plants or industrial process plants.
- Experience of Safe systems of work and compliance with safe operation procedures.
- Working knowledge of high-pressure steam systems, steam quality control, steam turbine operation and combustion control systems.
- Willingness to undergo a National Police Clearance and medical check relevant to the role.
**Desirable Skills**
- Knowledge of Australian, UK and European environmental Legislation.
- IT literate with the ability to interrogate SCADA based systems to analyze, trend and monitor plant performance.
- Understanding of permit for work processes and procedures to maintain safety from the system, including HV power, LV power and high-pressure steam.
- Recognized Mechanical / Electrical or Process Engineering qualification.
- High Risk Licence for Boiler Operations.
- High Risk Licence for Turbine Operations.
- Recognized Health and Safety qualification.
