It is a commercially focused and growing NSW Government agency with the privilege of hosting the biggest and best sporting and live entertainment events for the people of NSW. It generates $320m revenue and manages a $4 billion asset portfolio, comprising five distinct precincts, six stadiums and two entertainment centres including Accor Stadium, CommBank Stadium, Allianz Stadium, the SCG, Newcastle's McDonald Jones Stadium, WIN Stadium in Wollongong, and entertainment centres in Newcastle and Penrith.
The Opportunity
This new role represents the next evolution of Venues NSW's finance function. You will be responsible for supporting the CFO in driving superior financial performance and strategic financial management of Venues NSW. This includes the management and strategic direction of Commercial Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis and Procurement Services teams.
As a key advisor to the executive team, you'll lead comprehensive financial planning and analysis processes including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning. You'll oversee the Commercial Finance function, ensuring robust financial modelling, commercial investment appraisal, and profitability analysis to support major business decisions, revenue generation strategies, and contract negotiations. Your role also involves setting strategic direction for Procurement Services with focus on supplier relationship management, sourcing strategy, and achieving best value for money.
This position demands strategic leadership, hands-on operational excellence, and managing complex stakeholder consultations.
Your Profile
You are an experienced finance leader (CA/CPA) who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments and attracted to stretch goals and challenges. You will have demonstrated commercial impact in similar-sized or larger organisations, and experience in large consumer focussed businesses such as multi-site retail and FMCG will be appealing.
As an executive team member, it's essential that your leadership fosters a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement, and you have strong relationship-building skills with external stakeholders and internal cross-functional partners.
