Job Title: Wildfire Operations Manager
This role is critical to the effective management of fire operations in our region. We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Wildfire Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Support: Provide operational, logistics and technical support to Native Title groups to manage fire operations in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
2. Fire Planning: Support the development of individual fire management plans for Native Title holders in collaboration with Traditional Owners, relevant members, project staff or teams.
3. Community Engagement: Assist with fire-planning meetings and operational workshops with Kimberley Ranger Groups, Traditional Owners and other relevant stakeholders as required.
4. Training and Capacity Building: Work with the Fire Development Officer to assist in the delivery of on-the-job training, mentoring and capacity building of Indigenous Rangers in operations, prescribed burning, fire suppression, burn planning and basic GIS.
5. Education and Awareness: Assist in the delivery of community education sessions and workshops on savanna fire management and carbon projects in the East Kimberley.
6. Representation and Communication: Attend and support Traditional Owner Ranger Groups to participate in local, regional and national forums on fire management as opportunities arise.
7. Relationship Management: Maintain effective working relationships with other organisations or stakeholders including government agencies, ENGOs, pastoralists and local tourism operators.
8. Safety and Compliance: Actively promote safe working practices across all activities; report all incidents and near-misses in accordance with policies and procedures and legislative requirements.
9. Administration and Coordination: Coordinate and carry out all tasks of the position including administration, management and liaison with external and internal stakeholders as required.
