Job Summary

The Sous Chef plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen. As an assistant to the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for managing and directing all day-to-day aspects of kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities
\
* Assist the Executive Chef with training chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff in food preparation and cooking techniques.
\
* Inspect and test cooked food products to ensure they meet quality standards.
\
* Ensure proper food receiving and storage practices to comply with health department regulations.
\
* Participate in menu planning and utilization of food surpluses and leftovers.
\
* Direct food apportionment policy to control costs.
\
* Supervise cooking personnel and coordinate their assignments to maximize net returns while maintaining satisfactory guest service levels.
\
Qualifications
\
* Banquet and ala carte experience is preferred.
\
* Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask.
\
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
\
* Ability to work extended hours, including late nights, weekends, and holidays.
\
* Required to lift and carry items up to 35 pounds and perform repetitive motions.
\
* Must be flexible and able to work in a team environment.
\
Experience
\
* A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in the food service industry is required.
\
Skills
\
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
\
* Mathematical skills to work with fractions, percentages, and ratios.
\
* Reasoning ability to solve practical problems in variable situations.
\
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other related programs.
\
* Strong attention to detail, time management, and prioritizing skills.
\
* Ability to multitask in a fast-paced team environment.
\
* Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
