Job Summary:
The Senior Environment Officer will play a lead role in environmental projects and ongoing operational environmental compliance. Reporting to the Environment Leader, this position forms part of a small on-site Environment team.
* Manage environmental investigations and compliance.
* Analyse, interpret, and manage environmental monitoring data, providing meaningful environmental advice to internal stakeholders.
* Support the implementation of the Environmental Management System to ISO 14001 standard.
* Engage with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders.
* Assist in the day-to-day management of environmental compliance with relevant licences and approvals.
* Undertake internal audits and inspections.
* Prepare compliance reports and presentations.
* Coordinate modifications to approvals and variations to existing licences.
* Contractor management.
About the Role:
This is a permanent full-time position located onsite at Mt Piper Power Station, just west of the Blue Mountains and Lithgow, NSW.
We have flexible working options available, including a condensed week and hybrid working locations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Environmental monitoring and water management in a heavy industry setting.
* Organisational representation to regulators, local governments, and community groups.
* Building relationships with stakeholders, such as residents, government officials, regulatory, and licencing authorities.
* Writing capability, preparing environmental impact assessments, and environmental management plans.
* Knowledge of the regulatory framework applying to environmental and water management and development approvals.
Qualifications and Experience:
Tertiary qualifications at minimum degree level in Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
Previous experience in a Power Station, mining, consulting, or similar environment/heavy industrial setting.
Experience in environmental monitoring and water management in a heavy industry setting, including organisational representation to regulators, local governments, and community groups.
Ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
Extensive knowledge of the regulatory framework applying to environmental and water management and development approvals.
