The Financial Accounting and Reporting Branch coordinates the Department's statutory financial reporting obligations, including quarterly whole-of-government reporting, annual financial statements and other external reporting requirements. The Branch provides advice on accounting treatment, strengthens accounting processes and supports strong financial governance across the Department.

The Role
The Manager, Financial Accounting and Reporting leads the delivery of the Department's statutory and external financial reporting obligations, ensuring reporting is accurate, timely and compliant with relevant accounting standards and legislation. You will oversee the preparation and coordination of annual financial statements and quarterly whole-of-government reporting, provide strategic advice on complex accounting and reporting matters, and ensure strong governance and internal controls are maintained.

In this role, you will manage critical relationships with internal stakeholders and external agencies including Treasury and the Office of the Auditor General, supporting audits, resolving complex issues and providing clear, risk-based advice to senior leaders. You will lead a high-performing team, build capability and drive continuous improvement across reporting processes, data quality and systems to strengthen transparency, accountability and decision-making .

Eligibility
To work in this role, you must:

* hold a tertiary qualification in an accounting or related discipline and eligibility for membership of a professional accounting body
* be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
