We are currently undertaking an exciting payroll transformation, evolving from heavily manual processes toward a more streamlined, technology-enabled payroll environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to that journey — helping shape future processes, systems and governance while supporting accurate day-to-day payroll delivery.
We are seeking a Payroll Officer / Payroll Administrator to join our close-knit head office team and play a key role in both operational payroll and transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Payroll Processing & Administration
Process end-to-end payroll, including data entry, maintenance, validation and quality assurance
Execute regular weekly pay run of approximately 700 employees and reconcile outputs to ensure accuracy and compliance
Validate timesheets and entitlements against Awards, EBAs, legislation and company policies
Process employee lifecycle changes including new starters, variations, reimbursements, terminations and redundancies
Prepare payroll payments including PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, child support, and workers compensation
Ensure accurate reporting, including STP and Portable Long Service Leave and maintaining accurate payroll records
Support the business through an ongoing payroll transformation and process improvement journey
Assist in transitioning manual processes into more efficient, system-driven workflows
Participate in system upgrades, testing and configuration activities
Identify automation opportunities and contribute ideas to improve payroll delivery and governance
Support development of improved controls, reporting and standardised processes
Compliance, Reporting & Governance
Ensure payroll processing aligns with Australian legislation, Awards, EBAs and company policies
Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations and data analysis to support compliance and leadership reporting
Support internal and external audits with documentation and reconciliations
Monitor legislative obligations including superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax, FBT and leave entitlements
Escalate potential compliance risks to Payroll leadership
About You
2+ years' payroll processing experience in complex large or multi‐entity blue‐collar environment.
Knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Awards, EAs, superannuation, payroll tax, PAYG, and FBT.
Proficiency in payroll software and systems (e.g. Xero, Employment Hero).
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Demonstrated experience in governance and compliance frameworks.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Comfortable working in evolving environments and contributing to change initiatives
Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with stakeholders
Positive, adaptable mindset with a willingness to learn and improve processes
