$120,303 - $135,701 + up to 15.4% Superannuation Henderson - WA, Russell - ACT The RoleThe newly-established Henderson Consolidation Task Force is recruiting two new EL1 roles to support ongoing communication and stakeholder engagement.
The two roles are:EL1 Media and Communications Manager located in Canberra reporting to the Strategic Communications Branch in the Ministerial and Executive Coordination and Communication (MECC) Division.EL1 Communications Manager located in Henderson WA reporting to the Director, Project Management Office of the Henderson Consolidation Task Force.While these two roles have different reporting lines, they will both work closely together, as well as with other members of the Task Force, and with other communication teams in Defence to develop and execute communication strategies to support the Henderson project.Key tasks will include:Providing specialist advice to stakeholders on the design, development and implementation of a range of internal and external communication products and activities, and on the management of communication and media issues.Producing high quality communication products within agreed timeframes; including media releases, talking points, speeches, responses to media enquiries, Defence publications and reports.Identifying and analysing communication risks and sensitivities and developing strategies to mitigate these risks, with consideration to Defence's strategic environment and priorities.Developing and implementing targeted communications and stakeholder engagement strategies and plans for internal and external audiences to support and enable business outcomes.Working collaboratively and negotiating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Assessing, interpreting and complying with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.Managing and leading a small team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.About our TeamThese two new EL1 Communications roles are in the Henderson Consolidation Task Force, which was established in July 2024 to support a major Defence project.
This project – announced in October 2024 – will establish a Commonwealth-owned Henderson Defence Precinct at Henderson shipyard in Western Australia.
The project will span many years and involves collaboration with a range of areas of Defence, federal and WA government and industry.
It is expected that the Task Force will transition into a new Henderson Consolidation Branch, within Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG).The MECC Strategic Communications Branch provides Defence and its Ministers with media and communication services in an agile and responsive manner.
