The Commercial Law team provides a broad range of legal services to the department, including advisory work on commercial and real property matters and major government projects. 
The division supports high quality, technically excellent, practical legal advice to the department and Ministers' offices.The opportunity is open to applications from CANBERRA, SYDNEY, BRISBANE & MELBOURNE. 
The role sits within the Legal, Legislation Liaison and Privacy Division and offers exposure to some of Australia's most important and complex commercial projects within the Australian Public Service (APS). 
Base pay range: A$95,501.00/yr - A$114,201.00/yr.What will you do? 
Take carriage of commercial law matters, identify legal risks and provide timely and accurate legal advice to assist the department achieve its objectives.Draft, review and advise on key transaction and supporting contracts.Contribute to the development and maintenance of the department's commercial law precedents.Work with internal and other Commonwealth Government stakeholders to inform, design and deliver effective legal options and solutions that meet the department's requirements.Manage the procurement of external legal services and ensure value for money for the department.Contribute to team and organisational continuous improvement and skills/capability-building initiatives, including supporting internal training on commercial law issues.Who we are looking forRelevant post-qualification legal practice experience in advising, drafting, reviewing and/or negotiating a range of commercial and/or real property arrangements (law firm, in-house or government).
