Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a 954-bed maximum-security facility for unsentenced male individuals located within the West Metropolitan Region. The facility includes three mainstream accommodation units, two protection units, two management units, and several spaces for those who require additional supports such as vulnerable prisoners, prisoners at risk. About the Role
The Strategic Advisor will provide high level advice and support to the General Manager, Metropolitan Remand Centre. They will be responsible for the analysis, identification, interpretation and recommendations for identified issues, complex project work and related tasks on behalf of the General Manager. The role will also support the General Manager in the delivery of Corrections Victoria's reform agenda, aligned with the Vision and Mission. Some of your duties will include: Provide high level, strategic support to the General Manager to contribute to the safe operations of the MRC. Provide authoritative advice, guidance and feedback to members of the Leadership Team on work products submitted to the General Manager for approval, including advice on appropriate legislative, recruitment and financial delegations. Manage the workflow within the Office of the General Manager and identify efficiencies within the Leadership Team. About you
To be successful in this role, you will have: Clear capacity to deliver highly targeted, well-researched, and comprehensive authoritative advice on a range of policy and operational issues relating to the MRC. Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment, with complex stakeholders. Proven ability to lead, influence and contribute effectively within a team environment. High level written communication and strategic thinking skills, with demonstrated highly refined judgement and political nous. A detailed knowledge of the criminal justice system, including correctional facilities, the functioning of the Courts, key stakeholders and critical issues. Qualifications / Requirements
Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant discipline would be highly regarded. Experience working on legislative issues and/or project management that relate to Justice Services is highly desired. Important Information
