About the role
The Senior Psychologist provides expert clinical care to children, adolescents and families experiencing complex mental health needs.
The role leads and supervises psychology staff and provisional psychologists, supports service development, and collaborates with allied health, nursing, medical staff, and key stakeholders to ensure high-quality, safe and responsive mental health services.
Key duties of the role
Deliver expert psychological assessment, therapy and intervention to children, adolescents and families.
Provide clinical leadership and supervision to psychology staff and registrars.
Lead multidisciplinary collaboration and consult with allied health, medical staff and external agencies.
Contribute to service development, quality improvement and research initiatives.
Ensure culturally responsive, evidence-based care and adherence to professional and ethical standards.
Skills and Experience
Hold an appropriate degree in Clinical or Health Psychology or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia.
Hold general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and be endorsed in the clinical or health psychology area of practice.
Hold approved supervisor status with the Psychology Board of Australia at all levels of supervision (primary and secondary).
Have extensive clinical experience in the delivery of mental health psychology services to children and adolescents with complex concerns, including advanced clinical experience in evidence-based modalities relevant to CAMHS.
Demonstrate ability to conduct psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions of a highly complex nature with children, adolescents and their families/caregivers, using a range of theoretical models in assessment and intervention.
Demonstrate experience supervising psychology staff and provisional psychologists.
