The hospital has a 370 beds which serve a population of over 180k. Approx. 14k operations are performed each year and the case mix includes most surgical subspecialties in adults and paeds. These include neurosurgery, upper gastro, head, neck and vascular surgery. Paeds make up about 15% of the caseload. There is a high trauma burden and high cases of emergency surgery with the hospital being the home of a national trauma centre. Re obstetrics, there are approx. 2200 high risk deliveries.
You will hold FANZCA or have completed your specialist training in either UK with FRCA after 2007. You will be happy to participate in the development of anaesthesia throughout the region and be happy to participate in the delivery of outreach services in remote and regional communities. Other duties include getting involved in clinical governance initiatives and leading on QA improvements. Further, you will supervise, teach and mentor relevant medical staff whilst being an enthusiastic advocate for their professional development.
