About The Opportunity The Asset Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing, implementing and optimising risk-based maintenance strategies for Council’s water and wastewater assets. Reporting to the Asset Planning Team Manager, this role uses asset condition, criticality and performance data to inform preventative maintenance programs, improve asset reliability, and support compliance obligations. The position works closely with Service Delivery and scheduling teams and is responsible for the effective use and integrity of Council’s Works Management System (WMS). Key Responsibilities Develop and update maintenance programs based on asset criticality, condition and compliance requirements. Guide and support the implementation of preventative maintenance strategies. Establish, manage and optimise maintenance programs within the Works Management System (WMS). Analyse asset and performance data to identify trends, failures and improvement opportunities. Maintain accurate asset registers and ensure WMS data integrity. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to review and refine maintenance strategies. Manage contractors for asset management activities as required. Prepare asset assessment reports, project documentation and compliance reporting. Troubleshoot and resolve WMS system issues. Develop and maintain maintenance process documentation and operational procedures. Lead projects or teams when required and undertake other reasonable duties as directed. About You To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following key selection criteria: Recognised qualifications in engineering, maintenance planning or equivalent in a relevant water and wastewater field. Demonstrated experience in asset management and maintenance activities for water and wastewater infrastructure. Demonstrated knowledge and practical use of contemporary works management systems. Strong problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented, continuous improvement mindset. Understanding of risk-based maintenance planning, resource allocation and regulatory compliance, including WHS. Ability to work under general direction and exercise initiative and judgement. Proficiency in industry-standard software, including the Microsoft Office Suite. Highly developed time management skills. High-level interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to consult effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Desirable: Ability to set, monitor and report on work programs and workflows. Working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Work Health and Safety Act, Environmental Protection Act and Local Government Act.
