Training and Development Unit
The Training and Development unit comprises operational and non-operational staff within four teams: staff development, volunteer training development, volunteer training delivery, and resource development.
The Volunteer Training Delivery function focuses on designing and implementing volunteer training strategies to operationalise the Rural Fire Development Framework and associated training packages.
Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for the effective design, development, and review of the volunteer training curriculum.
You will work closely with stakeholders across Areas, Districts, and Regions to ensure training meets the needs of contemporary volunteer services.
Additionally, you will provide advice and guidance on the review of the volunteer training development framework and assist volunteer trainers in delivering training courses and programs that are fit-for-purpose and compliant with industry standards.
The Queensland Department provides fire prevention, preparedness, and response services to fire incidents in built and landscape environments.
It also offers scientific and specialist capabilities to communities, including multi-hazard emergency responses such as road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous materials, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue.
The department supports community safety outcomes and encompasses units working together to prevent and manage emergencies.
Purpose of the role
The role involves designing and reviewing volunteer training curricula, working with stakeholders to meet contemporary needs, and advising on the training framework and delivery methods to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
Key requirements
* Hold a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent, or obtain it within an agreed timeframe.
* Knowledge of, or experience working with, volunteers or within volunteer organisations.
