These positions include coordination of courses, supervision of Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students, completing assigned service roles and engagement with industry partners are also key components of this position.We value collaborative research efforts and expect you to actively participate in research networks within and beyond the University, while building and running an effective research program in mechanical engineering. If you are passionate about making an impact in the field of robotics/mechanical engineering, we encourage you to apply for this position.Key Responsibilities At Academic Level B Will IncludeTeaching and LearningDesign, coordinate, and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including lectures, tutorials, assessments, and student supervision.Engage in curriculum development and innovation, incorporating online learning, alternative teaching methods, and current industry needs.Contribute to course and program quality by aligning with evaluation feedback, university policies, and academic standards.Provide academic support and advice to students, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to program development through stakeholder consultation.ResearchDevelop and lead independent or collaborative research aligned with the School’s strategic priorities, using best practice methodologies and ethical standards.Apply for external research funding and other support mechanisms to sustain and grow research activities.Publish research findings in peer-reviewed academic and professional journals to enhance the School’s research profile.Collaborate with colleagues and postgraduate students on interdisciplinary research projects, contributing to shared objectives and project outcomes.Supervision And Researcher DevelopmentContribute to the supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, and oversee recruitment, selection, and onboarding of qualified employees in line with University policies.Manage employee performance by providing coaching, feedback, and training, while promptly addressing conflicts and grievances according to University procedures.Ensure accurate remuneration and benefits for employees, coordinating with Human Resources when changes occur.Citizenship And ServiceActively develop partnerships with colleagues, industry, government departments, professional bodies, and the wider community.Exhibit leadership through mentoring, collaboration, and efficient management of internal service roles and decision-making processes.Perform administrative functions as needed, support other academic positions during absences, and consistently demonstrate UQ values.Additional to the duties above, Academic level C will include:Provide academic leadership in research training and supervision, maintaining an active record as principal supervisor of higher degree research students.Initiate and coordinate strategic collaborative research projects within the University and with national and international partners.Actively seek, secure, and manage external research funding, contributing as a chief investigator in grant applications.Produce high-quality research outputs as lead contributor, including publications in national journals, refereed publications, and conferences.Contribute to the enhancement of academic programs through coordination or development of engaging, relevant, and contemporary teaching.Support the School and broader community through leadership roles, industry engagement, and facilitating the translation and commercialisation of research outcomes.These are teaching & research positions.
