The Role:

It's never been a more exciting time to be joining Navantia Australia, one of Australia's leading companies in the Maritime Defence industry.

Navantia Australia has been awarded the Designer Support Contract to provide comprehensive design and engineering support to all Navantia‑designed ships in service with the Royal Australian Navy. This landmark contract marks a significant milestone for Navantia Australia, as it is the company's first contract held directly with the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA), underscoring its commitment to innovation and excellence in the maritime industry.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Program Manager to join the team out of its Darling Park, Sydney and Garden Island office. Operating under the Design Support Contractor (DSC) contract, the Program Manager is accountable for the delivery of all DSC Services relevant to the Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR) vessels and support system. The Program Manager will be responsible for leading a Project Management Office (PMO) team to support the program management and reporting of tasks and activities.

NOTE: The Program Manager (AOR) will be a Key Person under the terms of the DSC contract. The appointment of the Program Manager (AOR) will be subject to approval by the Commonwealth.


Responsibilities

* The Program Manager (AOR) is accountable for the delivery of the DSC contract relevant to Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment Asset Classes.
* The Program Manager will be the primary point of contact for the DSC to the System Program Office (SPO) Director, ACSSPO Principal Engineer, AOR Asset Class Enterprise (ACE) and Regional Maintenance Centre (RMC) Network (for the AOR Asset Classes).
* The Program Director will establish a close and collaborative relationship with the Commonwealth, AOR ACE and RMC Network.
* Operate within a cross‑class and cross‑functional matrix organisation to execute the DSC program relevant to the AOR Asset Class.
* Deliver program planning, reporting and customer reviews in accordance with the DSC contract requirements.
* Manage scope variations including re‑prioritisation and variances.
* Establish annual work plans and resource planning for the DSC.
* Develop the five‑year forecast work plan and resourcing for the DSC.
* Manage program risk, both internal and external risks and opportunities.
* Deliver internal reporting for program performance, including cost centre (P&L) Performance.
* Support the Contract Performance Manager in the delivery and reporting of the contract performance measurement program.
* Support Survey and Quote (S&Q) development.
* Promote the engagement of Australian Industry in the delivery of DSC tasks.
* Support the Quality Manager in the compliance of DSC operations to approved plans, processes and policies.
* Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives in accordance with the agreed Continuous Improvement and Innovations program.
* Facilitate a culture of high performance, focus on delivery and customer satisfaction.


Qualifications

* Master Degree in Engineering, Project Management or Business Management (Desirable)
* Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Project Management or Business Management (Preferred)
* Proven skills and experience in leading a through life support function
* Experience leading large technical programs
* Minimum 8 years team leadership and supervisory experience
* Excellent project management skills
* Very strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision‑making skills
* Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high‑pressure environment
* Ability to collaborate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business, clients and Enterprise Partners
* Experience in a business development and/or commercial focused role.
