Position Overview
We are seeking a commercially minded Accountant to manage the financial operations of our dynamic recycling business.
The ideal candidate will be CPA qualified, have experience in both local and foreign business transactions, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to improving business efficiency and taxation compliance.
This role is critical in supporting strategic decision-making and ensuring financial integrity across all areas of the business.
Proven experience in processing and uploading external reports, including Income Tax, BAS, Payroll Tax, Workers Compensation & Superannuation to online ATO and various portals is essential.
You will be reporting to the Directors and Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial plans aligned with business objectives.
Analyse cost structures and profitability of commercial operations.
Provide financial insight and strategic recommendations to management.
Produce & upload Income Tax, BAS, Payroll Tax, Workers Compensation & Superannuation submissions to online ATO and various portals.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
Manage payroll, superannuation, and related compliance.
Liaise with auditors and financial institutions as required.
Produce and upload Payroll Tax and Superannuation submissions.
Manage foreign currency transactions, conversions, and international banking.
Ensure compliance with international trade, tax, and financial reporting standards.
Monitor international supplier/customer accounts and FX risk exposure.
Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and international clients on financial documentation.
Ensure compliance with ATO, ASIC, and other regulatory bodies.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and international financial legislation.
Strong understanding of the Australian Taxation system is desirable.
Identify and manage financial and operational risks.
Assist in implementing and upgrading accounting systems.
Recommend and implement process improvements for greater efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CA qualification essential).
Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a commercial/industrial setting.
Minimum 3-5 years of practical experience in international trade, FX, and cross-border accounting practices.
High-level Excel and financial modelling skills.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
Experience in logistics, commodities, or export industries is highly regarded.
Australian citizenship is required for this position.
