We are seeking a Full-Time Lead Safeguarding Consultant, Location - SA/NT to provide exceptional customer-focused service, leading Safeguarding Consultants, implementing safety framework, overseeing cases, ensuring compliance, and mentoring staff.
Purpose of the role:
The Lead Safeguarding Consultant will lead the Safeguarding Consultants within their division to implement the Child, Youth and Vulnerable People Safety and Wellbeing Framework across TSA, including risk assessments, training, advice, developing and monitoring safeguards and child safety compliance.
The Lead Safeguarding Consultant will oversee and review all Safeguarding cases, provide advice and coaching regarding the management of new and ongoing cases of concerning behaviours and allegations to ensure The Salvation Army meets its legislative compliance requirements in regard to children, young people and vulnerable adults.
The Lead Safeguarding Consultant will lead, supervise, and mentor the Safeguarding Consultant within their division.
Key Responsibilities:
* Case Management: Advise on risks, manage behavior concerns, document communication, provide reports, and support complex cases
* Investigations: Conduct investigations, manage reportable conduct, and oversee complex cases
* Team Support: Actively participate in team activities, meetings, and support staff development
* People Leadership: Provide leadership, coaching, and staff development, ensuring compliance with TSA's values
* Safeguarding Assurance: Support assurance activities, report findings, and reduce risks to children
* Advisory: Serve as the primary point of contact and advisory on safety matters
Experience and Qualifications:
* Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Criminology, or related field
* Previous safeguarding risk assessment experience
* Self-motivated, confidential, and strong communication skills
* Effective time management and computer literacy
Requirements for the role:
* A valid Driver's Licence
Will require flexible hours including: periodic on call for weekends and public holidays, weekend and after hours work for Camp attendance, training where training groups are not available during weekday work hours (e.g. Volunteers and Ministry Leaders), and regular travel throughout the Division where the role is based.
