The opportunity:
As a Management Accountant with Urban Utilities, you will support the Financial Planning and Analysis team in the preparation of the functional business unit financial planning and internal reporting to inform management on the progress and effectiveness of Urban Utilities strategic and operational plans and investments. This role will also provide real time analysis to guide key operating decisions by highlighting performance outcomes in standardised reporting and ah-hoc performance analysis and reporting.
Working collaboratively with key decision makers and other finance personnel, this role will foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement to seek alternative ways of working by leveraging digital tools to automate reporting and analysis and bring budget owners closer to their performance to elevate financial acumen and drive a performance focused mindset across Urban Utilities.
About you:
Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline is required
Working towards or completed CPA/CA (or equivalent) qualification.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a management accounting, financial analysis, or business partnering role.
Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting processes.
Proven ability to analyse financial performance, identify variances, and provide actionable insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Experience working with business stakeholders to understand financial drivers, challenge assumptions, and support effective resource allocation.
Proficiency in financial systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential.
Experience preparing monthly management reports, dashboards, or performance commentary for senior leadership is highly desirable.
Exposure to project accounting, capital expenditure management, or asset-intensive environments would be desirable, but not essential.
