Applicants deemed suitable in process IPS/SS1015463 need not re‐apply. We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed‐term, full‐time and part‐time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027.

The Role

As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will work with students with disabilities and additional learning needs. You should be friendly, cohesive, student‐focused and team‐spirited. You will support teachers and therapists in delivering education and therapy programmes, perform tasks requiring judgement as determined by the teacher, and contribute to the evaluation of special education programmes. Strong written and oral communication skills, good interpersonal and organisational skills, and the ability to work both individually and as part of a team are essential.

Eligibility

* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or hold a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

Selection Criteria

* Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals.
* Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programmes.
* Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programmes.
* Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programmes, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programmes.
* Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
* Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well‐being of students.
