Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer
This role is responsible for managing the electrical scope of assigned projects from initial concept through to final delivery. The successful candidate will be in charge of scope creation, design, and compliance check of the electrical aspects of the projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Australian Standards and statutory regulations for fuel-fired equipment design and certification. They will also have experience working in cross-disciplinary delivery teams and leadership in engineering roles.
Key Responsibilities:
* Electrical Design & Documentation: Prepare detailed electrical documentation for process equipment, including schematics, panel layouts, termination diagrams, material lists, and bills of materials.
* Project Engineering Support: Develop electrical components of project documentation such as installation and commissioning procedures, O&M manuals, Hazardous Area dossiers, and ensure timely completion of handover and acceptance documentation.
* Control Systems & Instrumentation: Engineer control systems for biogas and fuel-fired equipment, including IO lists, functional descriptions, specifications, cause and effect matrices, alarm/setpoint lists, and testing procedures. Specify and select instrumentation, and develop PLC and SCADA software.
* Commissioning & Testing: Participate in factory and onsite commissioning of PLC and SCADA-controlled systems, including hands-on commissioning, pre-commissioning activities, and archiving of project data (e.g., SFCs, PLC/SCADA files).
* Subcontractor & Installation Management: Tender, select, and manage subcontracted electrical components (e.g., control panels, MCCs, junction boxes, instrumentation, shop wiring) and site electrical installation contracts. Expedite equipment and materials, and manage QA documentation.
* Compliance & Safety Assurance: Ensure contract specifications are implemented, safety-in-design principles are applied, and all required approvals (e.g., Certificates of Electrical Compliance, Hazardous Area approvals) are obtained.
* Quality Control & Technical Leadership: Independently check and approve in-house and subcontractor electrical drawings, proactively engage with industry networks to stay current with technical and regulatory developments, and support EPC Project Managers and Delivery Manager with additional engineering responsibilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering recognized by Engineers Australia.
* Tenured experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of Australian Standards and statutory regulations for fuel-fired equipment design and certification.
* Experience working in cross-disciplinary delivery teams and leadership in engineering roles.
* Technical proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and other electrical engineering software.
* Hands-on experience in PLC and SCADA system development.
