Job Description
As a Leader of the production team, the Production Manager is responsible for executing Aries Rail's production strategy and driving productivity and capacity enhancement across our core product manufacturing and internal team SMEs alignment to ensure on time and on budget delivery. Additionally, the manufactured components as a system are supplied to the company's Brisbane and Melbourne locations for assembly.
The Production Manager will closely support the General Manager to deliver to the program and execute company strategy, while working closely with operations and finance to ensure that all production activity aligns with corporate objectives, profitability targets, and customer expectations.
This role requires a technically astute operator with a hands-on approach and ability to collaborate across multiple teams, with a proven background in working within ERP and Project Management Software. The opportunity exists for the Production Manager to have a significant impact on the business and participate in its continued growth.
Key Responsibilities - Production Leadership
* Lead the execution of Aries Rail's OEM production strategy directly from Perth, Wangara, HQ Production facility, additionally supporting our inhouse "client" (Aries Rail Brisbane and Melbourne workshops).
* Drive production productivity improvements and profitability through structured plans and integration with departmental dependencies.
* Oversee Project lifecycle management, post award and engineering development to manufacture and delivery.
Production Development
* Lead and manage the SMEs and production teams, ensuring performance targets are achieved. Comprising of steel fabrication, Auto Electrical, Hydraulic systems and mechanical assembly / commissioning team. Supported by inhouse engineering division, comprised of mechanical, electrical and project engineers.
* Participate in expanding production capacity with supporting sales growth and new client award and to meet market opportunity.
* Contribute to production targets and program alignment with strong understanding of inter-departmental interdependencies.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with multiple team members and internal customers (Production / assembly facilities), contractors and partners.
* Understand, demonstrate and ongoing implementation of a safety first culture, maintaining and continued enhancement of safe processes to ensure a highly safe work place.
Performance Oversight
* Monitor and report on production performance including time and cost budgets to ensure on time delivery maintaining company target margins.
* Collaborate with finance and operations to set pricing strategies, commercial KPIs, and cost controls
* Evaluate and manage commercial risks across contracts, partnerships, and projects.
* Safety focus, including companywide safety performance objectives.
Team & Cross-Functional Leadership
* Participate with a collaborative midset across sales, engineering, operations, production, and finance to ensure commercial and customer commitments are fulfilled.
* Promote a culture of accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
Background
* Trade Qualified or Tertiary Qualified with demonstrated product manufacturing experience with a career progression into team leadership and management with systems application is strongly regarded.
* 10+ years' experience in a manufacturing workshop of OEM systems integration to truck and or mobile plant adaptation. Aries Rail OEM product supplied exclusively into rail, rail experience is not essential but may be advantageous.
* Proven track record of leading high-performing production teams and delivering productivity and profitability enhancements to the business.
* Strong understanding of the Australian manufacturing industry, standards and compliance.
