Senior Farm Hand / Machinery Operator
A full-time position has become available on our Family-owned Dairy/Beef and Cropping enterprise, situated in the picturesque Ringarooma Valley.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Farm hand/Machinery Operator to take a hands-on role in the daily management of our beef cattle operation, supported by involvement in potato production and general farm operations.
This position would suit someone with a passion for Agriculture and animal welfare, who enjoys responsibility and variety, has high level communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment, along with excellent time management skills.
The successful applicant will be involved in the day-to-day management of cattle, cropping programs and general farm operations
Key Responsibilities:
* Daily management of beef cattle health, welfare and condition
* Feeding and watering & general Stock management
* Assisting with Calving, young stock management and animal husbandry
* Maintenance of Infrastructure such as fences, water supply systems & irrigation infrastructure
* Pasture and fodder crop establishment and management
* Operation of Tractors and farm machinery for cropping and livestock programs, including potato production, spraying, irrigation and harvest support
Skills & Experience:
* Demonstrated experience in Beef cattle handling and herd management
* Minimum 3-5 years experience in beef cattle handling and herd management is required
* Excellent knowledge in Pasture management
* Strong machinery and tractor operating skills
* Minimum 3 years experience in tractor and farm machinery operation is required
* Experience in cropping and potato production highly regarded
* Ability to work independently, show initiative and manage daily workloads
* Strong communication, time management and safety awareness
* Must have Current Drivers licence and Heavy Rigid licence would be an advantage
